Lafayette County School District Receives Inclement Weather Waiver Approval Lafayette County School District will not have to extend the school year to make up for the days missed in January because of inclement weather. The State Board met on February 21, to review Inclement Weather Waivers. During the meeting, the state board approved 119 school districts waivers to allow districts to transition from a minimum 178-day school year calendar to a schedule that counts instructional hours instead. State law requires schools to be in attendance for at least 1,068 hours a year or 178 days for 360 minutes a day. Lafayette County School District will transition to an alternate calendar of 174 days totaling 1,087hours leaving an additional 3.25 days in case the district must close prior to the end of the school year for any unforeseen emergency or inclement weather.

LCSD will be open. Several roads are still closed in some areas. Our drivers will not travel down roads that are unsafe. There may be some delays. Parents of students living in areas that are closed or unsafe to travel should inform their child's school. Please call your child's school office with questions.
