The Summer Meals for Kids Site Finder was developed by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) to help children, families, and others quickly and easily find summer meal sites near them. The site finder is a free, web-based application that also works on tablets, smartphones, and other mobile devices.

Lafayette County Elementary School's upcoming state-testing schedule for Grades 3-6 is attached. Currently, 85% of an elementary school's letter grade comes from these tests (Score on test/Growth from previous years). Parents: Let's have perfect attendance on testing days and have your children get a good nights rest on the day before testing.

Our two 1st Grade teachers (Mrs. House & Mrs. Jackson) will be using 20 different Animal Fur Replicas in their upcoming Habitat unit. The replicas were purchased through the Arkansas Game and Fish (Division of Rural Services) grant program.

Lafayette County School District Receives Inclement Weather Waiver Approval
Lafayette County School District will not have to extend the school year to make up for the days missed in January because of inclement weather. The State Board met on February 21, to review Inclement Weather Waivers. During the meeting, the state board approved 119 school districts waivers to allow districts to transition from a minimum 178-day school year calendar to a schedule that counts instructional hours instead.
State law requires schools to be in attendance for at least 1,068 hours a year or 178 days for 360 minutes a day. Lafayette County School District will transition to an alternate calendar of 174 days totaling 1,087hours leaving an additional 3.25 days in case the district must close prior to the end of the school year for any unforeseen emergency or inclement weather.
