Act 862 of 2017 allows a public school district and open-enrollment public charter school to develop a plan for alternative methods of instruction (AMI) to be used on days when the superintendent closes school due to exceptional or emergency circumstances such as: a contagious disease outbreak, inclement weather, or other acts of God; or a utility outage. AMI days allow for continuous learning when students miss days of regular instruction due to unforeseen circumstances. For the 2019-2020 school year, Lafayette County School District has been granted an approval of 5 days that can be used when any of the aforementioned emergency circumstances occur.


Assignments will be avalible online for elementary and high school students and must be returned within 2 days of material being assigned. Assignments will be graded and recorded in TAC. Attendance will be based on the student’s completion of assignments and will be recorded within 5 days of the AMI day.
